This Liberal MP Deserves Gratitude of All Canadians

From the Globe & Mail - June 3rd:
Sarnia MP Roger Gallaway issued a statement today saying that the Prime Minister's chief of staff, Tim Murphy, and Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh should be suspended from their posts until an investigation takes place. Mr Gallaway says, '...the situation is "totally odious" and "it shows the underbelly of politics that I think is quite unacceptable."
"[Conservative Leader Stephen Harper] will have to deal with [Tory MP Gurmant Grewal, who made the tapes], but we have to deal with our own," Mr. Gallaway said.

I applaud Mr Gallaway's courage and integrity in making this statement which obviously flies in the face of all the spin that the Libranos are manufacturing.
Not incidentally, this looks like the best opportunity little people could hope for to have our voices heard. In that spirit, I sent Mr Gallaway the following email:

Dear Mr. Gallaway,
As a Canadian who is profoundly concerned about the questionable actions of various members and staff of the House of Commons, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to you for your comments today on this subject. In the eyes of average Canadians who have become numb to questions of ethics and trust regarding our elected officials, it can be extremely difficult to discern the subtleties which separate a momentary lapse of judgment on the part of an individual member of Parliament from those situations which may bring into question the traditions and integrity of the institution itself.
It is my sincerest hope that your statement will cause others like you, who have a sworn duty to serve our country, to be reminded that they are equally responsible for what goes on in their 'House'.

Yours truly,

I urge everyone to write to Mr Gallaway so he can wave our emails in Polly's face when he gets called on the carpet for not toeing the party line. And maybe send copies to other MPs too?

Here is Roger Gallaway's web site. His email link is near the bottom of the page.
